Samsung Engineering receives an Ethylene Project contract from Ras Laffan Petrochemicals in Qatar

Samsung Engineering announced today that it was awarded yesterday a contract for an ethylene unit and its utilities for the Ras Laffan Petrochemicals Project (RLPP) in Qatar. The Letter of Award (LoA) of the petrochemical plant, which will be located in Ras Laffan Industrial City, 80km north of Doha, was received on October 2022. Due to a binding confidentially agreement, the announcement was publicized today. Samsung Engineering will be executing the RLPP Ethylene Project jointly with CTCI as the ‘Samsung Engineering CTCI Joint Venture’ (SCJV). The project is being built by Ras Laffan Petrochemicals (RLP), which is a joint venture consisting of Qatar Energy with a 70% stake and Chevron Phillips Chemical with a 30% stake. Technip Energies (PARIS:TE) (ISIN:NL0014559478) has been awarded a contract(1) for the supply of proprietary cracking furnaces for the 2,000 kta(2) ethane cracker for the Golden Triangle Polymers project , a joint venture between Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) and QatarEnergy, along the Gulf Coast in Orange, Texas. This latest award is in line with our early engagement strategy with CPChem and QatarEnergy, which resulted in the selection of our proprietary ethylene technology and includes the successful completion of the ethylene license and Process Design Package (PDP). Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. announces that a signing ceremony concerning the USD 6 billion world-class integrated polymers complex to be built in Ras Laffan Industrial City was held today in Doha, Qatar. The USD 1.3 billion EPC Lump Sum contract, already announced on December 21st 2022, is part of this complex and has been awarded to Tecnimont by a Joint Venture composed of QatarEnergy and Chevron Phillips Chemical. QatarEnergy (formerly known as Qatar Petroleum) is the state-owned petroleum company of Qatar and one of the largest gas companies in the world. QatarEnergy announced the Final Investment Decision (FID) with Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC (CPChem) to build the Ras Laffan Petrochemicals complex - a $6 billion integrated olefins and polyethylene facility at Ras Laffan Industrial City.   The announcement was made in Doha in a special ceremony during which His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, and Mr. Bruce Chinn, the President and CEO of Chevron Phillips Chemical, signed the agreement for a joint venture company to implement the project, in which QatarEnergy will own a 70% equity share, and CPChem will own a 30% share. Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. announces that its subsidiary Tecnimont S.p.A. has signed with Abu Dhabi Polymers Company Ltd. (Borouge) three EPC contracts relating to the world-class fourth expansion phase (Borouge 4) of the Ruwais polyolefins complex in Ruwais, located about 240 km west of Abu Dhabi City (Abu Dhabi, UAE). Qatarenergy Takes Final Investment Decision On The Largest Integrated Polymers Facility In The World

QatarEnergy and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC (CPChem) announced that they have taken a Final Investment Decision (FID) on the Golden Triangle Polymers Plant, an $8.5 billion world-scale integrated polymers facility in the Texas Gulf Coast area in the United States of America. Located about 180 kilometers east of Houston, the plant will include an ethylene cracker unit with a capacity of 2.08 million tons per annum, making it the largest in the world, and two high-density polyethylene units with a combined capacity of 2 million tons per annum, also making them the largest derivatives units of their kind in the world. Construction of the plant will begin immediately, with an expected startup date in 2026. The plant will be owned by Golden Triangle Polymers Company LLC, a joint venture in which QatarEnergy holds a 49% equity interest with 51% held by CPChem. Shell begins operations at polymers plant in Pennsylvania

Shell Chemical Appalachia LLC, a subsidiary of Shell plc, today announced it has commenced operations of its Pennsylvania Chemical project, Shell Polymers Monaca (SPM).
